My Diet and Nutrition Program When I began my program I first modified my diet to support the immune system, using the 40-30-30 zone diet. Then about ten years ago I changed my diet radically to remove all dairy products, gluten (no wheat, rye oats or barley), sugar, and legumes, as well as animal fats. I have since learned that oats themselves contain no gluten, although major oats processors have indicated they cannot guarantee there is no cross-contamination in their processing plants since they also process gluten-containing grains. My answer to that is to purchase the unprocessed steel cut oats at health food stores. They taste wonderful and add substance to my diet. I urge everyone with MS to study the entire essay by Ashton Embry Ph.D. regarding the role of diet in MS. You'll find it at http://www.direct-ms.org/ I am more and more convinced that the key to a major trigger for MS (and probably other autoimmune disorders as well) may ultimately be found in diet. I strongly urge anyone with MS to have the complete ELISA food allergy blood test panels run. Dr. Embry describes these tests and the reasons for having them run in his complete Internet essay. You may read a summary of Dr. Embry's essay by clicking here on "Dr. Embry's Diet Summary." You will also find help in implementing the diet by clicking on "Diet Revision Tips," from my personal experiences with the diet. I believe that I can assist my body in its natural healing response by providing it a healing environment (reducing stress) and nutritional "tools" to aid in the process. I refuse to accept that MS has to be progressive! I have reversed or halted that progression with diet and lifestyle changes, and a daily nutrition program, which I put together with the help of a Ph.D. nutritionist, that includes 100% plant source ionic liquid minerals, OPC from Grapeseed, essential fatty acids, mega doses of Vitamin D, and the methylcobolamin form of B-12, as well as other selected nutritional products. I may not be able to say I have completely and permanently overcome MS, but as I continue to deal with some of the damage it left behind, my goal is that it not be a significant factor in my life. On days when "it" doesn't enter my conscious thoughts, I have won! And I continue to win, one day at a time. Abe Lincoln is quoted as saying: "THE
